SGI Origin200 Quad R12000 270Mhz Deskside
The Origin200 is a server computer, it have no video card, nor ports for keyboard or mouse.
My configuration is a Craylinked configuration that means tweo modules (O200 servers) that
are connected from the Cray link, and they become ONE single unit. That's why
the information about my Origin (hinv) says that the system have 4 CPU, 2 for each module.
This is not to be confused with Clustering or Renderfarm of any type.
This system is a SINGLE sistem. CRAY was a company included in the SGI family,
and Craylinked system was "array" of modules that acts like a single super computer.
The Origin200 was my main server at home, until i found that is very loud and annoying to get in my
computer room where all other computers are, after a while I'm working on my octane,
it seams i'm inside an airplane, so I now use the ChallengeS
as my main server for 24/7 services until i'll find a proper appartment
with a proper "Server room" :)
the Origin VAULT shown in picture became my Octane2 Storage filesystem,
so is now close to the Octane2 and i don't use it with the Origin200 anymore.
I recently added the XBOX card... that lets me connect the GIGAchannel box.
its a case that is like an Origin200 but it "just" have expansions slots for
XIO and PCI cards. I didn't found a GIGAChannel yet in good shape condition,
but I'm planning to add this box as well to my config."
here's the output of the command "hinv -vm"
